HIRING: Home Support Worker

Location: Markham, Ontario

Position: Full-Time Home Support Worker

Job Summary:

We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated Home Support Worker to provide attentive, personalized care to an elderly individual recovering from a mastectomy. This role requires careful medical-informed assistance and supportive companionship during the recovery period.

Job Duties:

·       Provide sensitive personal care, including assistance with bathing, hygiene, and dressing changes guided by healthcare professionals.

·       Support patient mobility and positioning, using appropriate techniques to minimize discomfort.

·       Observe, monitor, and report any changes in patient’s condition, particularly around the surgical site.

·       Administer timely reminders for medication, assisting with simple medication routines as directed.

·       Prepare nutritious meals tailored specifically for postoperative recovery.

·       Offer emotional support and companionship, encouraging engagement in light, appropriate activities.

·       Manage routine housekeeping tasks, such as laundry, bed-making, and maintaining cleanliness.

·       Coordinate care plans, communicate effectively with healthcare providers, and arrange follow-up appointments.

·       Reinforce health-related information provided by medical professionals to facilitate safe recovery practices.

Requirements:

·       Relevant experience as a caregiver or home support worker, especially in post-operative care settings is beneficial, but not required.

·       Completion of secondary school education.

·       Training or certification in caregiving, healthcare, or related field preferred.

·       Ability to handle sensitive situations with compassion and professionalism.

·       Excellent communication and organizational skills.
