Restaurant helper

Term: Permanent

Salary: $18.0 / hourly (32760-37440)

Working hours: 35.0-40.0 Hours/Week

Work location: 1130 Cliffe Ave, Courtenay, BC, Canada V9N 2K1

Driftwood Restaurant Courtenay, established in 2023 in Courtenay, BC, is part of the Driftwood Restaurant Group on Vancouver Island.  The restaurant offers a captivating oriental ambiance and specializes in fresh, hand-crafted Chinese cuisine, including All-You-Can-Eat buffets and locally inspired menus tailored to the community. Guests can enjoy dine-in, takeout, and delivery services. Now we are looking for a dedicated Restaurant helper to join us in assisting cooks and other staff in various tasks such as cooking, cleaning, ordering, packaging, as well as serving customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

·       Handle kitchen tasks such as slicing, peeling, trimming, and chopping food items using both manual and electric tools.

·       Clean and maintain kitchen equipment, floors, and storage areas.

·       Handle trash removal, dishwashing (manual and machine), and cleaning/polishing of kitchenware.

·       Check, arrange, and maintain supplies in refrigerators, cupboards and other storage areas.

·       Assist cook in using deep fryer, oven, dispensers and other equipment to prepare semi-finished  food items.

·       Bring clean dishes, flatware and other supplies to the buffet station.

·       Portion and assemble meals, record and package take-out orders.

·       Assist in food services such as cleaning tables,  removing dishes, replenishing condiments and other supplies.

·       Assist in other tasks as required by the kitchen or dining area staff.

Skills & Qualifications

·       Completion of secondary school education is preferred.

·       Previous experience in a kitchen/restaurant is preferred.

·       Strong work ethic and reliability, willingness to commit to a long-term employment.

·       Attention to detail and cleanliness.

·       Friendly and professional attitude when interacting with customers and team members.

·       Ability to stand, lift, bend, and manually handling kitchen tools and equipment.

·       Ability to work in a noisy, hot and fast-paced environment.

·       Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

·       Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision.
